New York Comic Con | October 2014 presented a panel on the upcoming movie, "The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies." Various websites either promoted the panel or recapped/mentioned the panel after the event.

When rumors began to surface that Thorin would not die in the final Hobbit film, TORn hunted down the source of the rumor and then provided evidence to debunk it., one of the sites that had reported the rumor, used the information provided by TORn to also declare the rumor as false.

March Madness at io9 | March 28, 2014

It was noted that TORn was rallying Tolkien fans when io9's March Madness came to a final showdown between Star Wars vs Lord of the Rings.

Net100 – a ranking that measures the top sites on the web with the .net domain extension | January 2014

TORn was ranked #38 in a list of the top 100 websites using the .net extension assembled in a joint effort between and Verisign. Nominations and voting for the list was initiated in September 2013 and the sites making the list was announced on January 13, 2014.
